Painted Paper Art

mini masterpieces of art for kids

Clay, Flower Power, Nature

Daffodils

March 8, 2020 Comments : 3

Supplies Needed:

Heavy weight paper or watercolor paper

Modeling clay

Paint palette

Tempera paint in yellow, orange, red, green and white

Flat paintbrush

Step One

Use a flat paintbrush and various shades of yellow, orange, red and white tempera paint and paint flat petals. I suggest starting from the center and pulling the brush outward. Continue this process using the various shades of warm colors and fill in the top portion of the white paper. Next, add the centers to the various flowers.

Step Two

Use a flat paintbrush and paint overlapping stems at the bottom of your paper. Add a little yellow to some green paint to create a lighter shade of green.

Step Three: Apply the Modeling Clay

Create modeling clay centers for the daffodils to make them 3 dimensional and give texture to the art work. (Make sure to use heavy weight paper to support the modeling clay.) Cut a small slice of clay and smear on the painted daffodil center. Next, press a piece of clay flat and wrap around the end of your finger or pencil. Attach on top of the previous smeared clay in the center of the daffodil.

Add green stems created out of the modeling clay for more added texture.

Happy Creating!

Laura this is my first time visiting your site! You have accomplished what I wish to do. I am about to retire and for the first time to set out on what I believe, is the next journey of my life. I taught for 30 yrs and now I get to create the curriculum I want and how I want. I love nature, same as you, and want to teach pre-schoolers science through art. When I read your bio, I felt as if you are my twin just born to a set of different parents, if that makes any sense! We enjoy the same things and I love taking photos of sunsets and sunrises and of course beautiful flowers. I use my photos also to inspire my art. I use mixed mediums and apply to a little of everything to everything. I feel so blessed!

About Me

Hello

Hello! Do you love to paint? I sure do! Tempera Paint, Watercolor Paint, Paint sticks! I love helping kids create art, seeing them start with a blank paper, exploring with art materials, creating beautiful mini masterpieces. I encourage my students to become fine art explorers, learning about various artists and cultures. In my spare time I love creating fun, bright art inspired by nature. I also enjoy gardening and collecting vintage fisher-price toys. Thanks for visiting!
