1-Art club hearts

Art club students created these wild and crazy patterned hearts collages. We meet every other Wednesday morning before school. This group is comprised of 4th and 5th graders, boys and girls at the end of the class they always surprise me with such unique and fun projects!

What you will need:

Craft Sticks

Glue

Model Magic

Tempera Paint

Buttons

Directions:

Day 1. Use previously glued together craft sticks. Use model magic to create the hearts shapes. Let Dry.

Next, paint the sticks with fun patterns and designs and let dry.

Day 2. Paint the base of the model magic hearts and add patterns. Add smaller, additional patterns to the background craft sticks. Lastly, add buttons to each corner of the background with glue.

Keep on Creating!

Thanks! No we just used tempera paint. I use prang and dick blick. They are pretty opaque and my students really apply it on heavy.

I know what you mean about feeling like 4 -6th graders are really there just to socialize, but you must be doing something right because these are awesome. Your kids must feel safe with you and happy or they wouldn't talk at all – like the first day of school.

Do they paint the sticks before or after they are glued together?

    Laura,
This is probably a dumb question but did you glue with Elmer's?

Hi Shanna, I used Elmer's Glue All for the sticks and Tacky Glue to hold down the Model Magic Hearts

About Me

Hello

Hello! Do you love to paint? I sure do! Tempera Paint, Watercolor Paint, Paint sticks! I love helping kids create art, seeing them start with a blank paper, exploring with art materials, creating beautiful mini masterpieces. I encourage my students to become fine art explorers, learning about various artists and cultures. In my spare time I love creating fun, bright art inspired by nature.
