Printmaking I : City Skylines with Reflections

April 10, 2017 Comment : 1

Printmaking is magical for kids and adults as well. The process of creating an image then transferring that image to another piece of paper is so exciting. There are so many different ways to print. This project focuses on using a foam printing plate then transferring the image to paper.  Supplies you will need: Watercolor paperRead More

Vibrant Van Gogh’s Sunflowers

March 30, 2017 Comments : 3

I am always inspired by the beauty in Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings, especially his Sunflowers paintings. Did you know that Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch painter born in 1853? Did you know that in 1888 he moved to France to create an artists’ community? Did you know that the sunflower was Vincent’s favorite flower?Read More

Monet’s Sail Boats

March 12, 2017 Leave a Comment

During the 1860s, Monet, in his twenties, began developing a style that would catch the attention of other artists. Monet is known for creating his paintings outside, but Fishing Boats at Sea was actually finished in the studio. This painting has broad brushstrokes and shows contrast of dark and light, which made the judges toRead More

Faux Stained Glass Windows

February 20, 2017 Comment : 1

In 6th grade we study the Art Historical Time Line. We always do a “faux” stained glass window project using liquid watercolors and sharpies. We get inspiration from looking at artwork created by Louis Tiffany and other examples of windows found in churches. This year I thought I would bring in Gothic stained glass windows and theRead More

Festival Of Lights- Menorah

December 17, 2016 Comments : 3

Celebrating various holidays is special for my students. One project that is a favorite of many is the Festival of Lights Menorah. The Chanukiah (the menorah) is a nine-branched candelabrum that is used on Hanukkah. Chanukiahs are commonly made out of metal, or stone, and can be purchased at a Judaica store, but they can be madeRead More

The Art of Stories Vol. 4: Little Cloud by Eric Carle

December 12, 2016 Comments : 2

I love connecting other subjects together with my art projects. I think it is so important because everything in our lives is connected right? Well this project has been a favorite of mine for years. When I taught at the local university,  I always had the students, future teachers, create these adorable clouds using aRead More

About Me

Hello

Hello! Do you love to paint? I sure do! Tempera Paint, Watercolor Paint, Paint sticks! I love helping kids create art, seeing them start with a blank paper, exploring with art materials, creating beautiful mini masterpieces. I encourage my students to become fine art explorers, learning about various artists and cultures. In my spare time I love creating fun, bright art inspired by nature. I also enjoy gardening and collecting vintage fisher-price toys. Thanks for visiting!
