Artist Study: Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent Van Gogh’s Wheatfield with Crows introduces students to the colorful world of landscape painting.

Wheatfield with Crows is one of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings. Van Gogh used powerful color combinations in this painting: the blue sky contrasts with the yellow-orange wheat, while the red of the path is intensified by the green bands of grass.

The first project is creating a beautiful wheat field landscape using tempera paints. The second project is mixed media crows using construction paper, oil pastels, and tempera paint.

Both of these projects are inspired by his beautiful artwork. Curious where to start? Try one of our popular lessons available in the shop.
