Trying to make some fun textures for the art show I saw the apple trays laying by the trash! I ran into the cafeteria and said ” Save these they will make great water for our hippos!”
The students first painted the tray to look like waves of water, then they added some painted vines. 2nd, the students cut out painted paper lily pads and flowers and glued them down. The last step was for the students to create a hippo out of their pre-painted paper and add the details. The students made just the head of the hippo (to give the illusion of the hippo coming up out of water) Splash!
my son loves hippos, I want to try this I have been a pre-k teacher for over 20years and I am a stay home mom now, It think I want to go back to school to teach art, I love it, but I have no training so I would have to get some LOL I found you thru pink an green mama and I am your newest follower, If you want to visit me its' http://nf1andpre-kwhisper.blogspot
I had tons of these trays that were left in the art room I inherited! I used them today for Monet's Waterlillies. I was so thrilled to make room in the closet and recycle. The kids were thrilled to use them.
